The Directors of leading Black Country
Community Interest Company Complete Kidz have now decided to close two areas of the
overall organisation.
Cafe @ Portway closed on Tuesday 28th
February as it was felt that it was not fulfilling its initial promise.
On Friday 10th March the Totz Zone
pre-school will close as well. The Directors are sad to see an end to a
facility which was providing so much enjoyment and support to local families.
Wherever possible and appropriate staff members are
being employed in other areas of the business.
For the future success of the organisation, the
Directors have chosen to concentrate on the core areas of the business. Complete Kidz has always provided a wide range of affordable physical
activity, sports coaching and educational services to improve the health and
well-being of all age groups. The organisation’s
goal remains to raise the understanding of healthy eating and exercise amongst
children and their parents, as well as offering economical high quality
childcare.
In order to move forward positively at this time, the
Directors are putting all their efforts into the thriving sports school
services and flourishing Kidz Zone childcare and holiday camps.
Furthermore, the Fun Fitness Classes for children and
adults will continue as usual. Complete Kidz also remains committed a range of
community health initiatives such as the Sandwell-based Make, Move & Munch
clubs.
The organisation is embarking on a new sports coach
apprenticeship programme, with members of staff having already been identified
for crucial Mentor roles. The Directors are focusing on managing and training existing
staff, building the skills of these Mentors and ensuring that Complete Kidz is
as prosperous as possible.
Complete Kidz has started the year on a high note, having recently become
the first Community Interest Company in the UK to achieve gold CAA
accreditation. The CAA (Children’s Activities Association) is the first
not-for-profit, industry-led organisation to set and raise standards in all
organised children’s activities across the United Kingdom.
The mission of Complete
Kidz remains to inspire and develop health and education through innovative and
imaginative activities involving sport, music, drama and art. They accomplish
this through engaging children and their parents and encouraging them to adopt
a healthy lifestyle. Their activities are provided in a safe environment, where
the participants enjoy themselves and achieve meaningful personal outcomes.
